Juliet Cameron-Wilson is a New York actor and playwright originally from England. With a BA with honors and an MA in English Literature from Cambridge, and an MFA in Acting from The Actors Studio, Juliet was a very easy choice to take on the role of Bacchae. “Wild things are going on in the woods of Greenwich,” Juliet explains, “and I’m in the center of it. It was great fun playing a Bacchae – it’s a part very close to my heart. I think the back story we had with the Bacchae in True Drama is very interesting. In the story, we are the ones who call Dionysos – he’s works for us. And the parallels a historical interpretation. One view of how Bacchae first came about is that a band of female Shiva devotees wondered over from India into Greece. And this gave Greek women the idea of claiming a protected vacation. The men couldn’t say anything about it because the god Dionysos ordered it.”
